How to Hang Large Art
Placement, height, hardware, and room-by-room guidance for statement pieces.
The Golden Rule: 57 Inches
The center of the painting should be 57 inches from the floor — gallery standard. For a 48x60 piece, the bottom edge lands around 27 inches from the floor. Above a sofa, drop to 6-9 inches above the back. In a dining room, 54-56 inches centerline.
Room-by-Room
- Living room (above sofa): 6-9 inches above the sofa back. Width about two-thirds of sofa width.
- Entryway: Center in the wall. For tall ceilings, go bigger.
- Bedroom (above headboard): 6-9 inches above headboard. Width roughly matches bed.
- Office (behind desk): Bottom edge clears your head when seated — 48+ inches from floor.
- Dining room: 54-56 inch centerline. Hang above a buffet or sideboard.
Hardware for Heavy Pieces
Lei-Kol's large pieces are substantial. Use two heavy-duty wall anchors rated for 50+ lbs each, spaced one-third in from each side. French cleats distribute weight evenly. All pieces arrive with hanging hardware installed and sides painted — no frame required.
